goodbye lenin

Goodbye Lenin (Dir. Wolfgang Becker, 2003) imagines what an abrupt interruption to our physical, material surroundings might threaten in terms of a disruption of a sense of self.

The films in this first season of Interiors Cinema Club offer different views of the way in which our sense of self is located in, and created by the material world and addresses what happens when that material world alters chronologically.

How far are we a product of our times? Is being human something that changes according to the spaces, buildings, objects, interiors that reflect back to us the period in which we live? Or is there a core to our 'human-ness' that remains unchanging across the ages?
