Minight in Paris

Midnight in Paris (Dir. Woody Allen, 2011) tells the story of the film’s hero Gil’s release from his present through experiencing the artistic life and material world of Paris’ creative past, beautifully described through Anne Seibel’s Oscar-wining production design.

The films in this first season of Interiors Cinema Club offer different views of the way in which our sense of self is located in, and created by the material world and addresses what happens when that material world alters chronologically.

How far are we a product of our times? Is being human something that changes according to the spaces, buildings, objects, interiors that reflect back to us the period in which we live? Or is there a core to our 'human-ness' that remains unchanging across the ages?
