Inside the City is a two-day event to be held at The Cass, London Metropolitan University on 22 and 23 November 2018. It is the third Interior Educators’ (IE) conference following Interior Futures at Northumbria University in 2011 and Body + Space at Middlesex University in 2014.
The conference invites interior educators, practitioners and new and established researchers to pursue and discuss ideas about and proposals for the city’s interior. It seeks to place the interior and the discipline of interior design firmly at the heart of the debate of how the city is inhabited and to challenge our engagement of both the new and existing contexts in which we work.
Interior Educators (IE) is the national subject association for all interiors courses in the UK. It is the national authority on interior education and is an advocate for the promotion and recognition of excellence and intellectual rigor within the diverse range of courses in this country as a registered charity it is not-for-profit and from 2013 is also a registered Learned Society. The diverse and wide-ranging educational remit of Interiors, which is not tied to a regulatory body, is a situation that allows it to flourish. IE is an advocate of the diversity and multiplicity of the subject and is a support network for all of its members and its students throughout their careers. It is a coherent collective and representative body through which to articulate current and future common issues and ambitions in the subject of the design of interior space.
